En route in South Tyrol

Badl’s tips for excursions for two

Don’t miss out during holidays in South Tyrol: we have compiled for you the most recommended excursions to the surrounding areas. Discover the South of South Tyrol together!

Castelfeder above Lake Caldaro

Castelfeder. The painters of the Romantic Era named the mountain knoll at Ora/Auer in the South Tyrolean lowlands the “Tyrolean Arcadia”. And indeed, lots of history and prehistory can be discovered here. Castelfeder is a local recreation area in the midst of nature and offers peace and tranquility. Nearby, above the lake, the Leuchtenburg Ruins overlooks the area and is also worth visiting.

Rastenbach Ravine near Caldaro

Rastenbach ravine is a wild romantic biotope with waterfalls and typical canyon vegetation. The flume goes past Friedensweg trail and the S. Peter’s Church and provides a small adventure for adults and children alike.

Winery & Wine Museum

Part of the excursions for two is also the Wine Museum, which is a must during your holidays in Caldaro. Visit one of the wineries along the South Tyrolean Wine Route and the Wine Museum in Caldaro. Here viniculture has an age-old tradition. Wine is also a central concept at “Das Badl”.

Meran & Trauttmansdorff Castle
Meran & Trauttmansdorff Castle

The spa resort of Merano/Meran awaits its visitors with a new thermal spring, botanical gardens, the Touriseum, a Mediterranean climate and various cultural events.

The Dolomites, Landmark of South Tyrol

The Dolomites have captivated admirers time and again with their unique play of colors: at dawn they glisten and at dusk they glow bright red. A roundtrip through the Dolomites takes you along unique vistas and cultural insights into the Val di Fassa, Val Gardena and Val Badia Valleys. A visit to one of the five Messner Mountain Museums of the region is also very interesting.

Lake Garda

Only 120km from Caldaro lies the picturesque Lake Garda. While the northern shore is bordered by 2000m high peaks, the southern shore already lies in the plains. Thanks to the sub-Mediterranean climate on the sunny slopes, cypresses, agaves, oleander, cedars, olive trees and even palm trees grow here.

Also highly recommended is a day excursion for two to Venice. The city stretches over 117 small islands in a saltwater lagoon. The islands are interconnected by more than 400 bridges.

The city of Romeo & Juliet. The Piazza delle Erbe square, the Arena and much more are waiting to be discovered in Verona. Particularly interesting are the spectacular opera productions in the Arena. We at “Das Badl” will gladly advise you and organize an excursion for you.

Caldaro on the Wine Route organizes several events around the topic of wine. In June there is the Night of the Cellars. Several wineries in Caldaro and along the Wine Route open their wine cellars to visitors and also impress with their special side programs.

The wine festival of the wineries is organized in mid-August by the band of Caldaro and is a festival for every wine lover. At the beginning of September you can experience the Caldaro Wine Days. This is a very special event, where you can personally discuss wine with cellarers on the market square.

We will gladly reveal more about the various events!
