Activities around Lake Caldaro
South Tyrol offers a variety of activities. The region around Lake Caldaro is particularly striking for its diversity. Numerous trails, the most beautiful lookout points and cosy stops for a break and a bite to eat all form a harmonious unity and optimum pre-conditions for a great variety of activities in the southern part of South Tyrol.
Nordic walking is one of the most efficient outdoor trainings for the entire body. Nordic walking can be easily learnt and you never have the feeling of overstraining yourself: at you hike your own speed in nature, enjoying the fresh air, the pleasant weather and the beautiful panoramic views.
We at “Das Badl” are available to hike with you and show you the impressive surroundings. We will gladly inform you about the Nordic walking trails in the Castelvecchio/Altenburg Forest.
The mild climate on the south side of the Alps allows for golfing even in winter. As with all your activities during your holidays in South Tyrol you can enjoy the beautiful view. Within 50 km several golf courses are available. We will gladly make reservations for you to tee-off, even every day on a different golf course:

Windsurfing is one of the most popular sports activities on Lake Caldaro – not only among South Tyroleans. Surfing has been popular here since the 1970s and over the course of time the picturesque lake has become a surfer hotspot, due in part to the south wind “Ora“.
From March, optimum surfing conditions prevail on Lake Caldaro during stable high-pressure weather conditions. In the afternoon the “Ora” reaches peaks of 4 to 6 Beaufort. Particularly in spring, surfing is popular, since the average water temperature in April is already 13° and in May 19°.
Climbing is as traditional in South Tyrol as hiking and is one of the absolute favorite leisure activities among visitors. Beginners and pros can expect a great variety of experiences around Caldaro.
Near Mendola Pass the adventure begins on the fixed rope route on Roen mountain at 2,116m altitude. On Favogna/Fennberg there is a further starting point in Magrè/Magreid. All who do not yet dare to climb outdoors can have a good romp in the surrounding climbing halls.
In addition the greatest high rope garden of South Tyrol awaits you with exciting activities. In the Castelvecchio/Altenburg Forest in Caldaro there are 160 platforms, and 19 courses with different levels of difficulty and 30 flying fox glides.
Tennis cracks find the best pre-conditions for game, set and match in Caldaro. Andreas Seppi, who grew up in Caldaro/South Tyrol, started his career as a pro here in the South of South Tyrol.
The sports zone in the Castelvecchio/Altenburg Forest is equipped with six floodlit sand tennis courts, one hard court and a training wall. You are guaranteed to have exciting matches with your partner!
