Picturesque Lake Caldaro

Warmest swimming lake in South Tyrol

Lake Caldaro sits among an ocean of vineyards below the picturesque Leuchtenburg Castle. Not only the surroundings, but even the lake itself is revealed in an enchanting green color.

As the warmest swimming lake in the Alps, Lake Caldaro is one of the most popular destinations in South Tyrol. Here you can swim, surf, sail, ride a pedal boat or rowing boat or simply laze relaxed around in the sun.

Whether smooth in spring, vibrant in sum¬mer or picturesque in autumn: at Lake Caldaro, the largest swimming lake in South Tyrol, you can swim from mid-May until the beginning of Oc-tober. Due to its shallow depth, the water already reaches tem¬pe¬ra¬tures of 17-19 degrees during the second half of May, and during sum¬mer as high as 26-28 degrees.

Sailing and Surfing on Lake Caldaro

Thanks to the late afternoon southern wind “Ora” on Lake Caldaro, not only are sailing regattas organized regularly – it is also a paradise for surfers.
